Summer Camp will occur on the Date's of July 24th through July 31st.

Please Click on the Merit Badges tab, to see what the requirements are for the Merit Badges you are taking.

The troop's 2010 summer camp week will be at the Blue Ridge Mountains Council Powhatan & Claytor Lake campgrounds in Hiwassee, Virginia the week of July 24th through July 31st.  (Saturday to Saturday).

Thank you to everyone who had their son complete and hand in the emrit Badge forms at tonight's meeting.    For the couple of scouts who have yet to turn them in - or who are in need to modifying them, please take a look at the schedule and prereqs. and email them to me as soon as possible.   I am including new copies of the MB schedule, Prereqs and Medical forms just in case anyone might have misplaced the previous email.

Some additional notes:

Some of the classes are 2 periods long (Environmental Science, Pioneering, Lifesaving, Horsemanship, shooting...)   These are two periods classes - be careful when filling them out that you either don't overlap or that you are missing a MB period.   I believe the 11AM E. Science is actually 11-12 and then it continues from 2-3 (with the lunch and siesta break in between)  I think they have a typo.

Also, please try to make the parents meeting on the the 7th of July.   We will go over the travel plans, meal plans, packing tips (what to bring - what not to bring)  and other useful tidbits of information.

PAPERWORK:    With regards to paperwork the scout will need to bring to camp.    I strongly suggest that the boys bring their scout handbook (in a ziplock bag) to camp.  Make sure that their name, troop number and address are inside the book.  I also suggest that you copy or scan all of the pages in the back that have rank requirement signatures in case something happens to the book.   Also, if a scout is signed up for a MB that he has a "Partial" blue card from a previous summer camp - he should bring the "actual" blue card,  but again please make copies of the Blue Card.

COPIES of other cards to bring -

TOTIN' CHIP:   I would also suggest that everyone brings a copy of their Totin' Chip card (both sides) - a number of MB will require proof of this - along with the scout trading post if a scout wishes to purchase a knife (which about 75% of the scouts usually do).

FIRST AID Blue Card:   An number of MB's have a requirement that the scout earn the first aid MB.  If they have earned it, bring a copy of the completed blue card (both sides)

SWIMMING Blue Card:  If a scout is taking lifesaving

perhaps other -   Check the requirements either on line or in the front of th emerit badge books.

I mentioned to the boys tonight that they should bring the MB book for each MB they are taking. They should also read it prior to going to summer camp (at least twice)  And know what the requirements are and which ones are prereqs if there are any.   It really does help.

If you have any questions please email or call me.

Mr. Crispin
